[e-drug] Oseltamivir's adverse reactions (2)

E-DRUG: Oseltamivir's adverse reactions (2)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear E-druggers,

In spite of the Pharmaceutical Affairs and Food Sanitation Council
repeated announcements that it had not found any causal relationship
between oseltamivir (Tamiflu, Chugai, Roche) and neuropsychiatric
adverse events, not only clinical and epidemiological evidence but
also non-clinical evidence have been accumulating even after I
wrote a review on adverse reactions to Tamiflu for IJRSM
http://npojip.org/sokuho/published-paperJRS431.pdf
and the mechanisms of neuropsychiatric reactions to Tamiflu
have now become clearer.

Sudden death after taking Tamiflu is suspected due to the central
suppressive action of unchanged Tamiflu like barbiturates and benzodiazepines.

Recent animal experiment revealed that abnormal behavior may be
related to increased release of dopamine in the rat brain by systemic
administration of Tamiflu (Yoshino T et al Neurosci Lett. 2008
Jun 13; 438(1):67-9. Epub 2008 Apr 9)

This increased release of dopamine is similar to that induced by
diazepam but different from that induced by amphetamines and
cocaine.

I again wrote a letter to the editor of BMJ:
"Mechanisms of neuropsychiatric reactions to oseltamivir become
clearer ( http://www.bmj.com/cgi/eletters/335/7610/59#200482 )

Please look at it.
