E-DRUG: Pacific Medicines Testing Program
--------------------------------------------------------
The Australian Government, through the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is piloting a program to provide Pacific Island countries with access at no cost to the TGA's laboratory testing for medicines quality assurance. The TGA Laboratories are a WHO Collaborating Centre for Drug Quality Assurance.
The Program is focusing on medicines for common non-communicable diseases and on antibiotics. Countries will also be able to send medicines when there is a problem or complaint. The first round commenced in March 2018 for the first five countries that have joined the Program.
