[e-drug] Request for help validating Pacific Island Country Competency Framework

E-DRUG: Request for help validating Pacific Island Country Competency Framework
-----------------------------------------------------------------

You will be aware from previous E-mails that the University of Canberra
(UC) is working with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Pacific
Sub-Regional Office to improve competency development and capacity
building in the main medical supply systems of countries in the Pacific
region, using reproductive health commodities as tracer items.

With the help of many in the Pacific we have prepared a draft list of
skills/competencies that we feel covers the practice of pharmacy in
Pacific Islands Countries.
The list is called a, "Competency Framework for Pharmacy in Pacific
Island Countries".

When finished the list will be used to develop training materials, to
help improve the skills of the pharmacy staff working in PICs.

This initial set of competencies has been prepared by looking at what is
happening around the world and comparing that to what we understand
happens in the Pharmacy Departments within PICs.

We have taken this initial list and conducted; detailed workplace
observation, face to face interviews and focus groups in the countries
of Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea (PNG). Further workplace observations
and focus groups were also conducted in; Cook Islands, Federated States
of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati and Tonga.

We now want to obtain the opinion of medical, pharmacy and medical
stores staff from Pacific Island Countries to see if the list we have
prepared represents what happens in your country.

By clicking on this link:

Or cutting and pasting the link into your internet browser, you will be
taken to a quick online survey to ask your opinion of what we have done
so far.

Alternatively if you would like to participate in the survey by phone
then send Andrew Brown an e-mail with your contact details and I will
call you.

For further information please contact Andrew or Peter from the details
below.
