[e-drug] RFI: Students' knowledge of developing country health needs

E-drug: RFI: Students' knowledge of developing country health needs
---------------------------------------------

Hello there,

My name is Amy Woodhouse and I am new to this group. I am currently
working as a research assistant at the School of Pharmacy, Otago
University, NZ, looking at students' knowledge of health care needs and
health systems in developing countries, with a particular focus on
medicines and the role of pharmacists. The purpose of this research
is to develop a new programme aimed at teaching our pharmacy students
about key health issues and pharmacy practice within developing
countries. I am working with Dr Pauline Norris and Dave Woods, whom I
think some of you know.

I was wondering whether any of you have been involved in, or know of,
any similar studies in this area? We're really after studies that cover
the views/opinions of students from developed countries about developing
countries, rather than the views/opinions of students from developing
counties themselves. Any studies that look as the views/opinions of
health professionals would also be of interest.

We will use any information gathered to help design a questionnaire to
assess our own students knowledge of the subject area. Following the
survey, we will then develop a teaching resource.

All help greatly appreciated! Please also let me know if any of you
would like to receive a copy of the final results/ teaching resource.

Many thanks
Amy
