[e-drug] Panorama programme on Seroxat accessible but only until Sunday

E-drug: Panorama programme on Seroxat accessible but only until Sunday
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

[I think it can be a bit tricky to look at the live forum (I could not open
it, you probably need a special programme) but in any case the transcript
can be accessed as a text file from the first URL. KM]

Dear E-druggers,

Last Sunday night (11 May) 'Panorama' (BBC) ran a follow-up programme on
side
effects / withdrawal problems etc. with the SKB antidepressant Seroxat
(paroxetine). It featured Charles Medawar and Andrew Herxheimer
commenting on their review of the thousands of emails and calls received
by the BBC following the first programme which was broadcast in October last
year.

The programme was a real breakthrough on patient reporting of ADRs. It's
on the BBC website - but only until Sunday. The second URL is a 1/2hour
web forum (including Charles and GSK) but that will remain on the BBC
site indefinitely:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/panorama/default.stm and
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/panorama/live_forums/

I urge you to go to the web site. It was a great programme showing how
grossly problematic the current pharmacovigilance system is.

With best wishes,
Margaret Ewen
