E-DRUG: Patented new uses for old drugs (3)
---------------------------------------------
Hi Stein,
Multiple instances of this have occurred throughout pharmaceutical history;
it's a "classic" way of extending patent life/marketing exclusivity, together
with the development of a new formulations, e.g., extended release.
Topiramate, for example, was first approved as an anti-epileptic and it's now approved
for migraine prophylaxis. Some anti-epileptics are being utilized/approved for
bipolar disorder, etc.
