[e-drug] Pfizer tested unapproved drug on Nigerian children in 1996 (2)

E-DRUG: Pfizer tested unapproved drug on Nigerian children in 1996 (2)
----------------------------------------------------------------------

E-Druggers,

I think we must thank Mr. Stevens for the great information he supplied on this clear case of inhumanity and exploitation by a giant in the world Pharmaceutical industry. If a company as big as Pfizer could do this despite their ability to fund better and more ethical clinical trials then what do we expect the smaller ones to do?

I am convinced that, as the affected families' attorney said, some people high up there both in the U.S and Nigeria have deliberately suppressed the report coming out before now.

Pfizer clearly violated ethics in this case. The fact that they got the letter from the so-called hospital's ethics committee months after the trial was concluded and not before the trial confirms this.

The way the U.S courts and government handles this case will show the premium they pay on the lives of non Americans and most importantly the poor and ignorant.

And the way the Nigerian government handles it will show how important the lives of Nigerians is to the government and also whether the government is really serious about its so-called anti corruption stand because this clearly indicts some officials from the so-called 'naive' doctor to the higher officials.

I will appeal to Mr. Stevens to please continue to follow the case as he has been doing and update E-druggers.
