E-drug: Pharmaceutical industry and research in developing countries

Dear E-druggers,

I am about to start a combined MD/PhD program in health economics
in the fall. I want to study how the pharmaceutical industry can be
convinced to invest in research on diseases that impose great burdens
on developing countries. I've kept up to date on strategies that the
World Bank is pursuing but I am wondering if there is a definitive,
reliable and in-depth text that might provide me with a basis to
evaluate proposals in this area more critically.

I would appreciate any lead E-druggers can provide me with.
