E-DRUG: pharmacy in Argentina
-----------------------------
Dear E-druggers,
In Argentina physicians can't dispense medicines. And a physician's office
and a pharmacy can't be in the same building. Pharmacies must be managed by
pharmacists.
A Pharmacist who is the pharmacy manager is called technical director. A
pharmacist can only be the technical director (DT) in one pharmacy, and
must work full-time. When the DT is abscent, only OTC medicine can be
sold.
In the Capital City (but it is different in other states of the country)
pharmacy owners don't need to be pharmacists. So, owners may be physicians.
Nowadays, only pharmacy students can work as technicians. A long time ago
(more than 10 years), there was a course for pharmacy technicians; but it
has been canceled.
The importance of pharmacy technicians is being discussed.
