Invitation to the Golden Pill award
On 21 January 1999 La revue Prescrire will award the Golden Pill 1998.
In 1998 La revue Prescrire assessed 261 new medicines.
On January 21 La revue Prescrire will reveal which of these products
deserve the Golden Pill. The Golden Pill is given for new medicines in
France that provide significant new therapeutic possibilities in an area
where insufficient effective treatment was available. La revue Prescrire
will offer additional awards for other therapeutic innovations. A number of
companies will be honoured for good packaging and labelling practices and
for providing high quality information to La revue Prescrire.
Companies that performed badly in these areas will receive warning awards.
La revue Prescrire assesses all new products that are brought onto the
French market. These assessments are carried out by a multidisciplinary
editorial team and are based on a thorough analysis of all the available
data, including unpublished data. La revue Prescrire bridges the gap
between science and daily practice of medicine. Health professionals
receive from La revue Prescrire the information they need to provide the
best care to their patients.
La revue Prescrire and Prescrire International are published by The
Association "Mieux Prescrire" , which means "better prescribing" (AMP). AMP
is a non-profit organisation involved in providing continuous medical
education through high quality, reliable medical information for health
professionals in France and internationally. Presently over 23.000 French
health professionals subscribe to La revue Prescrire. Health professionals
in over 90 countries read the English language edition Prescrire
International. La revue Prescrire and Prescrire International are fully
independent and are financed by subscription fees only. The journals accept
no advertising or outside funding.
