[e-drug] Prices of essential drugs in developing countries (cont'd)

E-drug: Prices of essential drugs in developing countries (cont'd)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Until July last year I was working for the Medical Stores Department
in Tanzania. On top of procurement costs the mark up used by MSD
was less than 30%. That gave us the sales price at each sales outlet
around the country. For EDP kits it also included delivery to each
District Medical Officer (about 120 in all). Deliveries of loose drugs for
hospitals, UN etc. were often made and a delivery charge was made
for this (about 5%).

Hope this is helpful.
