[e-drug] Public Health Pharmacist honoured by the University and Government of Liberia

E-Drug: Public Health Pharmacist honoured by the University and Government of Liberia
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear all,

I write to share with you the news that one of our active members on E-drug and a leading proponent on strengthening pharmaceutical systems in developing countries, Dr Lloyd Matowe of Pharmasystafrica, was today, May 3rd, 2011 honoured for his services to pharmacy education and his efforts to strengthen pharmaceutical systems in Liberia. This demonstrates that governments increasingly recognise the value of strong pharmaceutical systems as the backbone of health systems. We in Ghana, along with our colleagues in Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya among others have benefited tremendously from Dr Matowe's open and inclusive approach to addressing supply chain and capacity challenges.

Please, join me in congratulating Dr Matowe on this occasion.

Great news Mahama!

It is so seldom that pharmacists are recognized for their contributions in this field! It also makes a strong case for a broad rather than narrow training of pharmacists. In addition, it reinforces the importance for needs based curricula!

Cheers, Billy
