E-drug: Quality assurance (cont'd)

Dear E-druggers,
I have read with interest about the concern of Ms Mayfield from
Zimbabwe regarding counterfeit and sub-standard drugs.
In order to control the flow of counterfeit and substandard drugs we
have established a new drug quality control laboratory in my country
Eritrea.
New as we are, we might not have enough experience as to the
working protocol starting from sampling to result reporting in drug
analysis. However, we found dissolution testing to be very important
to ascertain drug quality. We recently have often come across drugs
that were able to pass the assay for content, but failed to pass a
dissolution test, which is an indication of poor bio-availability and
compromised efficacy.
