E-drug: rationale of dexamethasone combination? (2)
---------------------------------------------------
Dear Niyada,

I would like to share my opinion on dexamethasone combination with
indometacin+vitamins. For years this type of combination was found in
"yachud" and had been sold in Laos. The combination was withdrawn (I'm not
sure what year, maybe in the late 1980s) from the Lao market due to several
suspected side effects, including gastrointestinal bleeding, rashes and
weight gain and hypertension and so on. However, still now some dispensers
in Laos (not pharmacists) intentionally combine dexametasone, indometacin
and paracetamol for chronic arthritis pain, although this is agains the
regulations.
From my view, I could not see the rationale for the approval of this type
of combination, especially with the vitamins.
Cheers,
Souly
