E-drug: Re: Wall Street Journal on expired drug (donations) (cont'd)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear e-druggers:
Mark Raijmakers' circulation of the interesting articles by Laurie Cohen in
the Wall Street Journal prompts me to comment. Ms. Cohen has described a
process under which the US military obtain re-certification of the safety
of
expired drugs -- a process about which we were quite unaware. However, we
see no reason to suggest that it has relevance for drug donations policy.
We
remain persuaded that adherence to the WHO Guidelines on Drug Donations is
essential. Similarly, we believe that a law making the Guidelines a matter
of governmental policy is sensible, as US Congressman Doggett and his
colleagues advocate. Indeed we are surprised that similar legislative
support for the Guidelines is not advocated in Europe as well.
