E-DRUG: Safe handling of cytotoxic medicines in low and middle-income countries
---------------------------------
Are you concerned about safe handling of cytotoxic drugs in your hospital
or your countries ?
Do you know that specific precautions should be taken to safely handle
cytotoxic medicines (e.g. reception, storage, prescription, preparation and
dilution, administration and waste management) in order to ensure patient
and worker safety and to protect the environment and the community from
contamination?
The Pharm-Ed project (www.Pharm-ed.net) is looking for healthcare
facilities from low and middle-income countries, dealing with parenteral
cytotoxic medicines and willing to participate in our study.
Our goal is to start and promote improvement activities in this neglected
area.
Participants will be provided with a self-assessment tool enabling them to
evaluate their practices in regard to international guidelines and
recommendations and design an action plan to increase patient safety and
worker protection in their facility. Our Cyto-SAT tool has been recently
validated by 27 international experts through a Delphi consensus method.
We count on a wide participation to be able to identify weaknesses and
build educational materials that will be available in open access on
Pharm-Ed platform (www.pharm-ed.net)
Besides, results could be used for advocacy, to raise awareness and
integrate specific interventions on that matter in National Cancer Control
Programme.
The deadline is on 31st Dec. 2018.
