E-drug: TB drug combinations (cont)
---------------------------------------------
November 1, 1999
May I just share with you some findings from a
research which I did late last year on the comparative
bioavailability of three rifampicin preparations,
namely loose generic preparation, branded rifampicin
(originator co.) and a rifampicin combined with INH as
fixed dose combination (FDC). Analysis of the blood
concentrations of rifampicin was low after certain
order of intake of the 3 preparations. The blood
levels for the FDC was also highly variable and
erratic. This work is still unpublished. May I know if
you have the same experience with your FDCs? Do you
think that the FDCs are less reliable when used to
treat TB patients wherein compliance is an issue? I
would very interested to hear your input. I hope you
can find time to reply. Thanks.
