Dear Colleagues:
In mid-January we posted the notice of the FDA's intention to withdraw
approval of terfenadine in the US. SCRIP has recently reported that
terfenadine has been suspended in France and Luxembourg (SCRIP No 2210
February 28, 1997 p. 17). March 15, 1997 we received word that
terfenadine had also been suspended in Saudi Arabia. The action in France
means terfenadine is not sold, in Saudi Arabia the drug can longer be
imported into the country.
We would be interested in hearing from others about the regulatory status
of terfenadine in their countries. If a regulatory action has been taken
please make the distinction between suspension of terfenadine's import or
suspension of sales at the level of the pharmacy.
Best Regards,
Larry
