E-DRUG: terms compliance and the patient

E-DRUG: terms compliance and the patient (2)
--------------------------------------------

Why use "concordance" instead? There is nothing in the term "compliance"
that implies the patient and the prescriber had not discussed and agreed on
what the instructions should be. Moreover, compliance should also extend
to the patient's following the directions on what s/he should do when
experiencing a side effect or ADR, e.g., stop taking it and call the
doctor, get immediate emergency help, keep taking it and wait for the side
effect to go away, etc.? I submit that "concordance" doesn't cover this
aspect of "compliance."
