[e-drug] The Botswana Conference on FDCs: A Voice out of Africa (2)

E-DRUG: The Botswana Conference on FDCs: A Voice out of Africa (2)
------------------------------------------------------------------

Botswana meeting could be interpreted as an interesting intent to enforce
national regulatory authorities in Africa? I do not think so. It was not
organized regarding the situation of quality of drugs or developing African
countries.

It was organized to discuss the final destination of USA funds. Discussions
were focused on criteria for approval ARVS. Neither on regulatory
Authorities human and financial resources restrictions or deficiencies, nor
on international aid programs to enforce these authorities.

The statement we do not want USA funds to be used in substandard drugs is
very irritant. One could ask: It is not our concern if other funds are
applied to substandard drugs?; if people of developing countries is
receiving low quality drugs is their problem, but not with our money?

Lets see. In the past, funds of USAID were used to buy drugs, obviously,
approved by local regulatory authorities? Why they are changing this obvious
attitude, taking the risk to be marked overriding internal affairs of any
country?

It is truly difficult to demonstrate any intention different from favor Big
USA Pharma.
