E-drug: Top 10 readings on Essential Medicines (cont)

The FIP Guidelines for the Labels of Prescribed Medicines should be there.
They were issued by the FIP Council at the congress in Singapore September
2001.

The guidelines have 4 major points:
* GSD (Generic name, Strength, individual Dosage instructions), the absolute
minimum required labelling.
* The individual dosage instructions should be printed/written on the
prescription medicine package.
* The design of the labels should highlight primary patient information, the
most critical information elements.
* The elements needed for good labelling is listed.
