E-DRUG: Traditional Medicines (5)
---------------------------------
Dear e-druggers,

Additional sources of info for traditional medicines include:

1.'Mirau and his practice: a study of the ethnomedical repertoire of a
Tanzanian herbalist' is a book by Raimo Harjul, Institute for Cultural
Research, University of Turku, Finland, first published by Tri-med Books
Ltd London in 1980. It includes drawings, local and botanical plant
names, how they are mixed and what they are used for. It also includes
other traditional products like shells, horn etc. ISBN 0 905402 07 3

2. I have seen an Indian Pharmacopoeia which was 3 big volumes. I don't
have more details here but the Voluntary Health Association of India
would probably know. I don't have their email here - can get it.

3. 'Traditional Aboriginal Medicines in the Northern Territory of
Australia' by the Aboriginal Communities of the Northern Territory, is a
quite large volume published by the Conservation Commission of the
Northern Territory of Australia, Darwin in 1993. It is written like a
pharmacopoeia and includes drawings and photographs, local and botanical
names of plants, mixing instructions and uses. ISBN 0 7245 2711 7
