UNITAID Symposium
42nd Union World Conference on Lung Health
Market-based approaches in TB treatment scale-up: lessons learnt,
remaining issues, and future opportunities

Saturday 29 October 2011
14:30 - 16:30
Lille Grand Palais, Room Jeanne de Flandre 2

There are finally TB products in the pipeline that have the potential
to revolutionize diagnosis and care. However, unless the global health
community works together to address significant shortcomings in the TB
market, the true potential of these new and innovative technologies
will not be realized. This symposium provides an overview of market
challenges in TB, highlights the need for new partnership models to
address these challenges, reviews lessons learnt from UNITAID
partnerships, and explores innovative approaches to address the
shifting TB market landscapes of the future.
