Dear E-druggers,

Please circulate this post for a health policy analyst, based in London, to
join a new independent policy group, funded by the Wellcome Trust and hosted
by the London School of Economics. This position will be looking at R&D of
drugs for neglected diseases, in particular government incentives to
stimulate such R&D; whether they work; and better alternatives where
possible. The position details are:

HEALTH POLICY ANALYST

Analyst to join high-profile independent policy unit for one year posting.
This new unit, sponsored by the Wellcome Trust and the London School of
Economics, aims to produce innovative recommendations for UK policy-makers
involved in funding pharmaceutical R&D, in particular for non-commercial
diseases.

This position will analyse the scope and effectiveness of UK R&D funding in
the medical/ pharmaceutical sector, including through performing qualitative
and quantitative data analysis, critical review of existing models, and
interviews with industry, researchers and funders. Based on this research,
this position will work with other team members to develop policy
recommendations aimed at improving R&D outcomes for non-commercial diseases.
The position is supported by a research assistant and will work closely with
a multidisciplinary team.

Substantial experience in UK Government health/pharmaceutical policy is
essential and a background in economics is highly desirable. The successful
candidate will be an independent, innovative thinker with energy and
commitment, and will be able to confidently interact with external
stakeholders.

Salary GBP45,000 plus superannuation (total package GBP51,500). Some
international travel required. Flexible working conditions.
