E-DRUG: Vaccine production in developing countries (3)

Hi,
In India we already have irregular supplies of vaccines and sera. The demand outstrips the supply. The cheaper anti rabies vaccine manufactured by public sector is often in short supply forcing the patients to buy costly ARV manufactured by the private company. The situation will worsen with the closure of public sector vaccine manufacturing units. The production capacities of these units needs to be improved and sufficient financial resources should be provided for expansion plans. The ministry should fund them to improve the GMP rather than closing them.
