E-drug: Virus alert HAPPY99.EXE
---------------------------------------------
Dear e-druggers,
E-drug moderators have been blasted in the past for distributing virus
alert messages and ever since we avoided doing so (despite
frequent reception of such messages). It concerned warnings for
"viruses" such as "Pen-pal greetings" and the likes. The only virus-like
activity tended to be the frantic distribution around the world of the
warning. Apparently very satisfying for the virus makers.
This message concerns an alert for the "HAPPY99.EXE" virus. I
decided to post it because I just received the virus myself, as an
attachment to a posting from a non-existing e-mail address (the
message was an old E-drug posting from some months ago). I
mistrusted it and deleted the file unseen. Although I do not know
what would have happened had I run the file, I would not
encourage E-druggers to do so. Just delete the file and do not
execute it under any condition!
Below an alert on this virus which I received myself today. Please let
me know if you need more info.
