E-DRUG: WHA Side Event on Pharmacovigilance 21 May 2013 at 6pm
--------------------------------------------------------------

Side event on Pharmacovigilance during the 66th WHA, 21 May 2013, 6 pm, Salle XII, Palais, Genève

Dear Colleagues,

A special session on 'Strengthening pharmacovigilance for better regulatory function in low- and middle-income countries' will be held during the World Health Assembly next week.

The session is being organized by the delegations of Ghana, Philippines and the United States of America and will take place on 21 May 2013, from 6 - 7.30 pm, in Salle XII, at the Palais, Geneva, Switzerland.

The session will address challenges that limit the capacity of low- to middle income countries (LMIC) to respond to public health threats such as SSFFCs, irrational medicines use and drug resistance; the ability to carry out benefit/harm assessments of medicines in public health programmes;
the expanding scope of pharmacovigilance, an inclusive partnership for more robust pharmacovigilance evidence for regulatory decisions, and opportunities for integrating pharmacovigilance in public health programmes.

We hope to see many of you at this event, to hear your views, concerns and solutions for global pharmacovigilance.
