E-drug: What you can do: Para 6 negotiations (cont)
---------------------------------------------
Dear E-drug readers,
James Love is right and it would be extremely useful if the medical
and in particular the essential drugs community would respond while
these talks take place. The situation in Geneva at the WTO has become
bizarre to say the least: trade negotiators deciding which patient
suffering from which disease will have access to medicines in the
future.
For those of you in Europe please note that the "DG-trade" position
Jamie is referring to is actually the common position of the EU. At
the WTO the European Commission is negotiating on behalf of the EU
member states. We know that not all member states are happy with the
position the Commission is taking on their behalf - but they have not
been vocal about this. For those of you in Europe it is therefor
important to address both Pascal Lamy and the minister of trade of
your country.
