E-DRUG: WHOs Making medicines child size initiative and extemporanious compounding (2)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear e-druggers,

The problems associated with preparation of extemporenous peadiatric preparations has become more and more worrisome in the face of the high incidence of TB in children. Mostly what we do here is to compound isoniazide, rifampicin and pyridoxine in multivitamine syrup or B-complex syrup while the pyrizinamide is compounded separately. All preparations are made to last for only two weeks.

We see the children recover, but I want more information on available and affordable best practices, as the means of measuring the stability and to an extent efficacy and bioavailability of these preparations are not within reach.

Thank you.
