------------------------------------------------------------------

World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences 2004
64th Congress of FIP
4-9 September 2004
New Orleans, USA

Main Theme: The patient and the pharmacist - The Heart of the New
Healthcare Team

Key to the nature of the therapeutic partnership between pharmacists and
patients are the design of future drugs, and the healthcare system in
which they are delivered. These two perspectives - fundamental in
determining the place of pharmacy in future healthcare will be addressed
in the professional programme. The contribution of new technology and
the impact of the increasingly knowledgeable patient on access and
choice of medicines will also be considered. Each of these issues
creates a challenge for determining the appropriate mix of knowledge,
skills and values of the future pharmacy workforce and will also be
discussed in a specific symposium.

Symposia:
  * New drug therapies and the impact on the
patient/pharmacist partnership
  * The patient and the pharmacist in different healthcare
