[e-lek] Short Course on Procurement Management of Essential Medicines and Medical Supplies in the Netherlands, 26 - 31 August 2012

Dear colleagues,

i+solutions will be facilitating a short course on Procurement Management of Essential Medicines and Medical Supplies (English version) scheduled to take place in the Netherlands from 26 – 31 August 2012.

This training is particular suitable for experienced procurement and purchase officers, logistic officers, health officers (in many situations it is the pharmacists who has a responsible role in procurement), members of tender committees, program managers and supply chain managers in the public and private sector.

Introduction

Today, there are many challenges presented by the increasing number of stakeholders in the health sector especially in developing countries. These challenges range from different funding mechanism to reporting requirements, and subsequent procurement of essential medicines and medical supplies. This course addresses the major challenges faced during procurement and aims at building participants’ capacity to manage the procurement processes in a multi-stakeholder environment.

Objectives

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

- Manage and evaluate procurement activities;

- Managing the tender process;

- Using SOP’s;

- Knowing how to use the different procurement methodologies;

- Stakeholder analysis: who needs to be involved for proper and effective procurement;

- Influence of other activities in the medical supply chain on procurement work and vice versa;

- Dealing with the challenges in procurement.

The course is highly participatory, the interchange of skills and experience among course members is essential for training activities and learning. The course contains presentations, discussions, exercises, and case studies. The major topics include:

Course Fee

The course fee is € 2,600, including accommodation and meals during the course period, if payment is completed before 15 July.
