$100 New Million for Global AIDS (7)

Dear Colleagues,
Greetings from Tanzania.
The Government of Tanzania appreciates in Advance the decision
made by the USA Government to increase funding HIV Control Ac-
tivities in Africa and Asia.
Tanzania being one of the most affected areas South of Sahara
and having completed and launched its 3rd Medium Term Plan for
Prevention and Control of HIV/AIDS/STDs would like to register
its request for serious funding consideration from this fund.
We congratulate the people of the United States for making this
decision, which will serve the lives of the people of our con-
tinent.
The total budget contained in the Medium Term Plan III (1998 -
2002) is US$ 20,365,000. The USA Government contribution will
be highly appreciated by the people of Tanzania. We should also
thank the USA Government for its previous support, which was
channelled through the USAID Mission in Tanzania which contin-
ues to support NACP to the present time.
We salute the USA Government and in particular His Excellence
President Bill Clinton.
