[afro-nets] Another year... another World AIDS day

Another year... another World AIDS day
--------------------------------------

Dear Colleagues,

Another year has passed.... and many of our fellows, our
friends, have also passed.

An enormous number of good people have done all they could to
help. And many of these people have helped with very limited re-
sources.

Meanwhile, an enormous amount of financial and material assis-
tance has been lost and squandered... and there is a level of
discord at the high levels that is quite reprehensible. Poli-
tics... protocol... its pathetic. And there is little in the way
of transparency, accounting and accountability and effective
monitoring and evaluation (TAAME).

My commitment is that by the time next World AIDS Day comes
around, TAAME will be widely implemented and we will have taken
the first steps to force transparency and accountability (TRAC)
where it is least wanted.

Thinking of PLWAs.... and those that care

Sincerely

Another year... another World AIDS day (2)
------------------------------------------

Today, we remember victims of the dreaded disease.
Children orphaned by the virus,
Families cut short of longlivity of life,
Partners made to be widowed,
The innocent newborns whose live span have been determined right
from birth because of the virus.
Researchers who have put their families behind to find a lasting
solution,
People who have put their finances into research to give lives
to some and lots more....
The point is this, will this virus determine the population of
decades to come?
It's my sincere belief that there would be light at the end of
the tunnel one day.
So lets, still encourage people to ZIP UP, SEX IS WORTH WAITING
FOR TO PASS ACROSS THE MESSAGE NOT THE VIRUS.

Another year... another World AIDS day (3)
------------------------------------------

Indeed another World AIDS Day has come and gone, more
speeches... more talk and more talk... gatherings and gatherings
but the poor girl and woman have to carry the burden.

When will we see words translate into actions? When will we see
absolute commitment to deal with the issue of HIV and AIDS? I
feel we are talking today about women and girls and tomorrow we
will all have forgotten what we spoke... How can we come up with
resolutions binding and concrete to make people change, make the
world turn the tide and stand hand in hand to fight this epi-
demic beyond simple words?
