Anti-malaria prophylaxis for Southern Africa trip (8)
-------------------------------------------
Dear Andrea and Frank,
Just a reality check as a mother - my children visited the Umfolozi
Game park many years ago during the month of December when they were 4
and 7 years old. The most difficult aspect of anti-malaria prophylaxis
was getting them to take the pills as they are very, very bitter. I
tried crushing them and adding sweeteners, and I must admit to even
bribing them, but they regularly spat the pills out. We did not
encounter many mosquitoes even though it was summer time. I'm not sure
how you would give your children the pills as they are so young.
Good luck in your adventures!
Best wishes,
Leela McCullough
