[afro-nets] BMJ special issue on Africa

BMJ special issue on Africa
---------------------------

Dear friends

Apologies for cross postings.

As you may know the BMJ is publishing a theme issue on Africa 1
October 2005. The editorial contact is Jocalyn Clark
(jclark@bmj.com).

Please can I ask your assistance in generating content for two
sections of the journal:

1. Profiles of indigenous organisations

We plan to publish short profiles of African based organisa-
tions, highlighting their successful health research or develop-
ment projects or programmes. These could be NGOs, patient
groups, lobby groups etc. Please would you nominate an organisa-
tion or forward this call for profiles:

What are your 2 or 3 most significant projects for health and
development? Please describe, sharing your successes and chal-
lenges!

Please supply a URL, contact details, and/or picture if desired.
Limit your submissions to 500 words. Submissions should be sent
to Jocalyn Clark <jclark@b mj.com> ASAP or by 26 August 2005.

2. Minerva

The back page of BMJ, called Minerva, contains a summary of re-
cent publications, research, events, and other activities.

We are calling on all African journals, publishers, librarians,
and health workers to suggest content for Minerva for the theme
issue. Please send your ideas by 26 August 2005 to Jocalyn Clark
mailto:jclark@bmj.com

Best wishes,

Dr Jocalyn Clark
