CALL FOR ABSTRACTS to be presented at the Practicum on HIV Prevention in Married and/or Cohabiting Couples in Africa to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, August 11-13, 2010
The African Network for Strategic Communication in Health and Development (AfriComNet) is organizing a three-day practicum on " HIV Prevention in the Context of Married and/or Cohabiting Couples in Africa" to be held on August 11 - 13, 2010 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The goal of the practicum is to share lessons learned, tools, and promising practices that can or have the potential to be replicated and scaled up with particular emphasis on Communication strategies, interventions, designs, implementation and evaluations and behavioral applied research in the five following areas:
* Couple HIV Counseling and Testing
* Condom use among married or co-habiting couples
* Multiple/Concurrent sexual partners
* Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission
* Underlying factors affecting married or co-habiting couples to protect themselves from HIV (eg. gender norms, gender based violence, alcohol abuse, couple communication, HIV stigma and discrimination)
The organizers of the workshop are calling for abstracts that are based on original, innovative and evidence-based work which also demonstrates measurable results and impact, and which could be replicated in other countries and settings.
Abstract Guidelines
Your abstract should include the following;
* Title of Abstract
* Author(s)' Names and affiliations
* Author's contact information email address (s), phones and mailing addresses
* The abstract body should contain the following;
- Background/Significance
- Program/Intervention/Applied Research Description
- Methodology
- Findings/Results
- Effects of the intervention on prevention behaviour
- Lessons learnt
Maximum number of words for the abstract should be 500 words. Abstracts which exceed this word limit will not be considered
