RFI: Factors that promote or hinder condom use in marriage/stable relationships
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Greeting to all!
I am interested in finding out if any study has been done to determine factors that encourage or hinder condom use in stable relations including marriage. This is in light of addressing the HIV/AIDS pandemic through condom use.
This, in my view, is very important as currently studies indicate that married people and especially married women have been found to be at high risk of HIV contraction. In most marriages/relationships, women have been found to be the innocent victims as it is their husbands who infect them with the disease. This state of affairs threatens the important institution of marriage in our society which is held in high regard in most cultures.
Should the case be that no study has been done in this crucial area, and then I request and encourage interested/concerned parties to urgently take up such a study and disseminate the findings. In some cases, people are even encouraged to get married or have a stable partner as way of ensuring that they are less at risk of getting infected. This serves to further highlight my great interest and concern in this issue. The findings of such a study will go along way in de-feminizing the pandemic as well as ensure continuation of the human race.
