Chemonics International (www.chemonics.com/career), in collaboration with JHPIEGO (http://www.jhpiego.org/ ), seeks a technical director for its ongoing USAID-funded Essential Health Services project in Angola to enable the public health system to provide improved services in TB, malaria, reproductive health, and family planning. The project's work includes quality assurance, data management, logistics and procurement, planning and budgeting, monitoring and evaluation, behavior change communications, and community mobilization, and will soon expand to include a significant HIV/AIDS component. Responsibilities include: manage a team of technical experts and provide technical leadership in all areas mentioned above; answer to the chief of party, but retain autonomy, independence, and responsibility for assuring the meeting of project objectives with the highest quality. Position duration: three years with a likely extension to five years. Project office location: Luanda, Angola.
Qualifications:
* Medical or clinical degree or at least 15 years of experience in health-related programs
* Master's in public health or other advanced public health training
* Experience in bilateral or multilateral agency-funded projects, USAID experience preferred
* Portuguese language fluency or proficiency (written and verbal)
* Understanding of quality improvement processes for service delivery
* Africa experience preferred
