Datelinehealth-Africa online volunteer wins UN Volunteer of year
2005 award
----------------------------------------------------------------

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme and its Online
Volunteering (OV) service today announced the winners of its
global "Online Volunteers of the Year" award for 2005.

Ten online volunteers were selected on the basis of their drive,
creativity and enthusiasm in supporting the work of the United
Nations, NGOs and other organizations in the efforts to reach
sustainable human development. DatelineHealth-Africa (DLHA) is
excited to be the proud host of one of the ten outstanding
global volunteers recognized for this award.

Haingonirina "Angie" Ramaroson (Madagascar/USA), a computer sci-
entist and committed DLHA online volunteer has been updating the
DatelineHealth-Africa website over the past nine months with
credible news, reports and data on the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Af-
rica. She increased the HIV/AIDS content of the DLHA site by as
much as seventy percent monthly and expanded the reach of the
site to include not only Anglophone, but also Francophone Af-
rica. Her work on HIV/AIDS helps shape individual and community
opinion and contributes to empower Africans, English and French
speaking, to improve their health situation.

DatelineHealth-Africa is a non-profit that works to provide free
access to health information and raise health awareness in Af-
rica.
