Efforts under way to stem brain drain of doctors...(3)

I think that the best way to prevent such a problem would be to
require locally trained physicians to spend at least 3 years of
practice in their home country before they fully complete their
medical training and receive certification to travel abroad.
Maybe some other form of incentive could be provided to help
them to also want to make the decision to remain. The difficulty
is that the benefits of leaving aside from the cultural benefits
of family and so forth of staying are so much greater abroad.

How will this divide ever be altered I am uncertain. However, I
know that it has to begin with the efforts with the home govern-
ments and countries in which doctors receive their training.
Once most leave, they never return to practice which is a shame.
