Enforcing the UK's overseas anti-corruption legislation (2)
-----------------------------------------------------------
Dear Colleagues
Thanks to Claudio for posting the message and Dr Susan Hawley of
the Corner House organization in the UK for preparing the analy-
sis.
But I am not at all sure that there is going to be much change
until there is a ground-swell of activity from people everywhere
who are sick and tired of leadership that pays lip-service to
ethical issues when it involves powerful people and their or-
ganizations, and "picks" on small examples just to show the pub-
lic that something is being done.
Transparency and Accountability (TRAC) are needed everywhere...
both to address the issue of blatant corruption and diversion of
funds, but also to address the more subtle abuse of resources,
where they are used for low level priorities when there are
really high priorities involving life and death that are not
getting addressed.
This is a big subject... a big issue, and it is time for it to
get addressed in a very meaningful way.
Sincerely,
Peter Burgess
