Faith-Based VCT Centers Open in Namibia
---------------------------------------

Population Services International's Namibia program is franchis-
ing its voluntary counselling and testing (VCT) centers to the
most interested, relevant and capable NGOs in Namibia. The first
three franchised VCT centers are run by faith-based organizations
associated with the Protestant and Catholic churches. Of the
three VCT centers, which provide a discreet setting for HIV/AIDS
information and testing, two are in the capital, Windhoek, and
one is in Oshakati, Namibia's second largest city. During the
first ten days of operation a total of 189 clients were seen of
which 10.5% tested positive. Most of the HIV positive clients
were women and between the ages of 20 and 29.
