From the Washington Post: Dead Wrong on AIDS (2)
------------------------------------------------
Dear Colleagues
Thanks for highlighting the views and opinions of Andrew Natsios -
the new chief of USAID. If what has been written is true, then the
guy has no insight whatsoever about Africa. Probably the Africa he
knows comes from some old books or films. When we are now talking
about eradicating Polio from Africa with all the logistic problems
associated with the cold-chain, can we really fail to deliver ARVs to
those who need them? Besides, majority of the AIDS patient live in
urban areas where accessibility is as good as in any other city in
the USA. Furthermore, saying that Africans do not have sense of time
is pure arrogance and insult. Period.
Personally I believe he has not yet understood the seriousness of the
AIDS epidemic in Africa and its negative impact on the very fabric of
Africa.
Please God forgive him.
Congratulations Amir, Ken and Marty for a job well done
