Health Cards (30)
-----------------
Dear colleagues:
I think that David Gwatkin's criticism of Afro-Nets is misplaced. The
real problem, as I see it, is that projects such as the CHC still can be
designed in the West and reach the pilot stage with very little, if any,
scrutiny or input from Africans. Afro-Nets, as an open forum, is a step
in the right direction, because it puts discussions that normally would
have occurred behind closed doors (if they occurred at all) into the
public purview and includes a wider range of people. The transparency of
the discourse is extremely valuable. Imagine if World Bank-sponsored
health projects were aired on Afro-Nets! Their success rate would
probably rise considerably.
Over time, as more Africans have immediate and ready access to the
internet, Afro-Nets will become even better. I think that Afro-Nets is
fortunate to have someone as experienced and skillful as Dr. Neuvians as
its moderator.
Best wishes,
