Health Cards
------------

Colleagues:

IMPACT Systems is attempting to create a "Hand Carried Comprehensive
Health Card" (CHC)for use in developing countries. The CHC will be used
for, but not limited to, capturing births, documenting services at all
levels of care including the home, furnishing all service providers with
current and historical patient health related data irrespective of
geographical location or provider, documenting patient specific health
related training, and as a reference source for home-based care and high
risk preventive instruction.

We are currently having preliminary estimates done regarding the
publishing costs here in the U.S. in order to make a determination
regarding the feasibility of their use within the confines of limited
monetary resources. Our goal is to present sample cards to various
governments for evaluation, field testing, acceptance, and eventually
national implementation. We believe the CHC to be one of most valuable
instruments for capturing and disseminating health related data that
will significantly reduce morbidity and mortality in the developing
world. We would like a little assistance from the public health
community.

We need samples of various documents and illustrations that are directly
related to health issues being addressed in the developing world. The
CHC will be more of a booklet than a card. We currently estimate that it
will be approximately 5.5 x 7 inches in size and have about 50 - 60
pages. Any samples of the following would be appreciated, as well as any
other ideas you would think appropriate. Also, if you know of any other
resources where these samples could be acquired it would be appreciated.

We would like samples of the following:

  "Road To Health" cards
  "Women's Health" cards
Illustrations and instructions regarding diarrhea and treatment(ORS),
  continued feeding etc.
  STD prevention
  Exclusive breast-feeding instructive materials
  Malaria - Cause/Prevention/Treatment
Information of Immunisations - Why? And When? etc.
  Malnutrition - Recognition / Treatment
  ARI - Recognition
Maternal Health Issues - TT etc.
Country specific issues such as locally available nutritional food
(Which foods are high in Vitamin A etc.)
  Other applicable high risk issues.

I know all of you are extremely busy, but perhaps your assistant or
secretary could possibly get these to us. Your speedy assistance is
appreciated.

Thank You,

Bill
