HIV/AIDS in Africa (3)

Novel Approach to Caring for Victims of HIV/AIDS in Nigeria, West Af-
rica
Dear Colleagues,
Nigeria in West Africa with a population of 110 million is not spared
from the ravages of HIV/AIDS. A Nigerian State Government with 75 re-
cent deaths in three months officially recorded from AIDS has rejected
the establishment of HOSPICE for the creation of a FOUNDATION as a
means of caring for people living with HIV/AIDS. The Foundation to be
funded from local and foreign donor sources will be responsible for
prevention, control and management of the disease. It will support gov-
ernment created Community Based Centres (CBCs) established within gov-
ernment owned general hospitals for purposes of offering services to
HIV/AIDS victims.
Further details are still sketchy at this time. See:

Are there comparative experiences with this strategy? Comments are wel-
come.
