Hope for women and children in 2013
https://co.clickandpledge.com/?wid=47105
Dear Colleague:
We have seen some remarkable gains in global health in 2012. Yet millions of women, children, and men still die from preventable causes.
As we pause and reflect, and look ahead to the new year, I invite you to read and share some of our favorite blog posts.
It is stories like these that give me hope for women and children around the world in 2013.
* Saving women's lives: meeting the unmet need for family planning.
http://blog.msh.org/2012/07/11/rights-choice-equity/
For MSH, family planning is a 'triple win' health intervention: it helps reduce maternal mortality, prevent child deaths, and greatly contributes to an AIDS-free generation.
* Saving children's lives: bringing treatment and prevention closer to the home. http://blog.msh.org/2012/05/09/closer-to-home/
We have come a long way reducing child mortality - and must do much more - through low-cost, high-impact interventions closer to the home.
* Integrating care for chronic diseases (video).

Mildred, a 33-year-old Ugandan woman, wife and mother of five, is living with HIV. Like many women, she did not know that she had developed a precancerous condition until she was screened during an exercise organized by MSH and our partners. Treating one woman with integrated care treats the whole community.
* Value for money: empowering leaders and managers with good governance.
http://blog.msh.org/2012/06/22/good-governance-from-villages-to-parliaments/
Managers and leaders need good governance to be most effective, whether they work for the government or in a health facility or in communities.
* Working toward an AIDS-free generation.
http://blog.msh.org/2012/11/30/world-aids-day-2012-from-cleveland-to-kigali/
We can move closer to the goal of eliminating pediatric HIV by 2015 by treating the mother, treating the baby, and continuing to treat the mother.
* Toward health for all.
http://blog.msh.org/2012/12/17/universal-health-coverage-gaining-momentum-in-2013/
The United Nations General Assembly passed a historic resolution in support of universal health coverage. MSH hailed the resolution as "a decisive step in the fight against health inequity and poverty."
With your help, MSH can continue this momentum of hope into 2013.
Your tax-deductible gift of $10, $50, $100, or more can help improve the health of women and children around the world.
