Hospital Information System (3)
-------------------------------
[The following message refers to the request in French language sent
out yesterday by one of our subscribers from Bourkina Faso. Since less
than 20 of our more than 600 subscribers are from francophone Africa we
ask them to contribute in English, if possible.
The alternative would be to create "AFRO-RETS" for the francophone Af-
rica. If there are volunteers they can contact me for advice and assis-
tance. DN Mod.]

Three remarks on the posting by Brahime Cisse:
1. There is a huge gap in exchange of experiences in health care be-
tween English speaking and French speaking countries in Africa, partly
because of language problems and partly because of (colonial) histori-
cal reasons. Still, there is a lot to be learned from experiences in
different parts of Africa. How to bridge the language gap?
2. The problem Brahime Cisse mentioned is much wider than a hospital
information system. It is about the role of the hospital in a primary
health care system, and how to make an efficient referral system work.
3. I can send Brahime information on the development of a hospital in-
formation system in Zambia (in English). But will it be applicable in
his hospital?
