Infobase on Health System Reform Initiatives

Greetings from Cape Town,
at the 18th African Health Science Conference currently taking place in
Cape Town, Prof. Joseph K. Wang'ombe, Chairmen of the Department of
Community Health, Univ. of Nairobi presented the "International
Clearinghouse of Health System Reform Initiatives" (ICHSRI). The aims of
the Clearinghouse are to comprehend and classify health system reform
proposals and implementation processes internationally; to identify the
conditions under which selected reforms succeed or fail, and to develop
appropriate methodologies to assess their impact.
The main strategies consist in the promotion of a comparative perspective
on health systems, the sharing of findings and documentation, and the
support of analytical efforts to understand the process and impact of
reforms. Country correspondents and researchers with project funded by
ICHSRI are in place in over 30 countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America.
An information base containing narratives of health reform initiatives,
health policy document abstracts, an indexed health reform bibliography, a
Thesaurus, a list of socio-economic and health indicators, a Glossary, a
directory of ICHSRI participants and country correspondents, and a
Newsletter "Informing and Reforming" has been established at:
