ISOC-Ghana Chapter Announced

     The Internet Society is please to announce the formation of the
     ISOC-Ghana chapter. Nii Quaynor will serve as president
     (quaynor@ncs.com.gh). The mission of the chapter is to promote the
     expansion of the internet in Ghana in all related areas including
     infrastructure, value-added services, content, use, and technical
     advancement. Particular attention will be placed on the Internet
     reaching rural communities in a manner and language suitable for the
     participation of those individuals.
     
     The chapter now has 42 members and is commencing a membership drive.
     They have also initiated a program through which ISPs may offer
     Internet Society and chapter membership packages to their subscribers.
     
     The chapter will continue its program of organizing or sponsoring
     seminars, exhibitions, promotional events, career development meetings
     with schools, links with relevant government ministries, and social
     events for the internetworking community in general. The chapter will
     be officially inaugurated by the Minister of Science and Technology in
     April.
